Bread & Water - Food & Drink: 47

We gotta eat. And drink.

So at some point we'll need food and beverage. Here are some ideas on what we might need/like.

If you have any severe food aversions, now's the time to let us know!
- No eggplant, but I think you already knew that.
- Mark is allergic to legumes (beans) and has trouble digesting very fatty foods. (no gallbladder)

Food-Meals (Brian and Mark B. will buy/make/transport)

We're thinking we'll serve 2 communal meals daily, breakfast and dinner. Of course this could vary depending on people's hunger, motivation to eat, but it's a place to start planning.
At other times everyone can fend for themselves as they wish. We'll try to have enough non-perishable food out and available for snackies.

Breakfast Menu Items

  • Eggs (scrambled, fritatta)
  • Pancakes (butter, syrup)
  • Hash Browns
  • Bacon
  • Snausages
  • Oatmeal (butter, brown sugar?)
  • Toast (butter)
  • Coffee (cream, sugar)

Dinner Menu Items (Made ahead and frozen)

  • Beef Stew v. 1, Mashed Potatoes
  • Thai Yellow Chicken Curry (mild for tender tummies), Rice
  • Beef Stew v. 2, Mashed Potatoes
  • Chicken Adobo, Rice
  • Lasagna
  • Hot Dogs, Buns (ketchup, mustard, relish)
  • Macaroni & Cheese (w/gooey sauce packet)

Food-Other/Shopping List (add stuff or sign up next to what you'd like to bring)

  • Fresh stuff (limited by our cold storage capabilities)
    • American Cheese Singles
  • Other Dry/Camping food for backup
    • Cheese flavored Triscuits
    • Saltines (good for settling stomach)
    • Pretzels
    • Sausage sticks (the heavily preserved kind that comprised 50% of my diet last year)
    • Beef jerky (BC)
    • Boxes of Clif Bars (BC)
    • Pop-Tarts
    • Trail Mix (let's get the kind without chocolate in it this year, that got disgusting...)
    • Gum
    • Candy (anything high in sugar that won't melt too bad. Tom gets bitchy without enough sugar)
    • Gummy worms
    • Skittles (the candy, not the person)
    • Mints (Pep-o-mint lifesavers)
    • Dried fruit
    • Peanut Butter (BC)
    • Jelly (raspberry) (BC)

Vegetarian Options

  • Go find some fucking hippie camp and beg for food there, you pasty-skinned loser.
  • Stay home.
  • Die.
  • Bring your own stupid rabbit food and watch us mercilessly chow down on BACON, 24x7.

Drink

  • Water. Lots of it.
    • 2.5 gallons per person, per day. Important: see water use notes below.
    • 14 7-gallon containers (supply for John's RV, BC/MB)
    • Powdered electrolyte drink (BC)
    • Gatorade (went through this pretty quick, should bring more than last year)
  • Booze, of course.
    • Vodka and more vodka (I'm going cheap. Is 4 x 1.5 L. bottles enough? -BC)
    • Beer: PBR, motherfuckers (2 cases -BC. More anyone?)
    • Champagne (for Mimosas)
    • Tequila (no crap, thanks -Mark B.)
  • Mixers & Bullshit
    • Orange juice concentrate (BC)
    • Lime-aid concentrate (BC)
    • Pineapple juice (because Tom dislikes cranberry juice, which will inevitably get added to this list)
    • Bloody Mary mix w/fresh horseradish (and micro-plane). Celery sticks and olives will count as our "vegetable" dishes for the duration of the encampment.
